Sync Folder

Sync Folder keeps files in your Home folder's Sync folder in sync between two computers. Follow these steps on both computers to connect them and share the folder.

Step 1: Turn it on

On both computers:

  1. Click the top-right corner of your screen, where the battery, Wi-Fi, and volume icons are.
  2. Click Sync Folder so it turns blue. This creates a folder named Sync in your Home folder.

Step 2: Connect the two computers

  1. On both computers, click the arrow next to Sync Folder in that same top-right menu, then click Open Web GUI to open the sharing page in your browser.
  2. On Computer 1, click Actions → Show ID in the top right of the page. Leave that window open.
  3. On Computer 2, click Add Remote Device at the bottom right of the sharing page, then paste or type Computer 1's ID and click Save.
  4. On Computer 1, a yellow banner will ask if you want to connect. Click Add Device, then Save.

Step 3: Share the folder

  1. On either computer, find the Sync Folder box on the sharing page.
  2. Click Edit, then the Sharing tab.
  3. Check the box next to your other computer's name and click Save.
  4. On the other computer, accept the prompt to share the folder and click Save.

Drop a file into the Sync folder on one computer. It will appear in the Sync folder on the other computer automatically.

For more options, see the Syncthing getting started guide. Syncthing is the application that synchronizes the files.
